CANTON COUNCIL NEWS
FAMILY OF THE YEAR

FEEDING THOSE IN NEED
Under the Family category and program topic of Food for Families, the council helped out with 60 food baskets for Thanksgiving and 40 food baskets for Christmas. Then when it was all over the council filled another 6 baskets by special request for Keep Christ in Christmas. This is a yearly event for the Council.

Council 11978 helped unload 150 wheelchairs off an 18-wheeler at Tyler Knights Hall. Most councils were awarded 1 to 2 chairs. We received 4 chairs. Bishop Strickland blessed the shipment.

The Marion Icon Prayer program comes under the Faith Category. This is the Council’s Our Lady Help of Persecuted Christians event. The icon was displayed by the Knights at 3 Masses. Father Jesu explained the significance of the Icon and prayed with the Church parishioners. The council received the Icon from Tyler and then sent it to Dallas on its pilgrimage.
